Colorful Wedding Invitations You'll Love
If you know you want wedding invitations filled with color but aren't quite sure what that could look like, we've gathered some inspiration for you! At Julia Kay Design, we've created colorful suites using bold paper choices, palettes, die-cut shapes, custom illustrations, and layers of texture. Take a look at a few of our favorite colorful wedding invitations and the design ideas behind each one.
Bright Colors, Die Cut Shapes, and Patterns

This custom suite uses a mix of bright colors and illustrations, all held together inside a die-cut gatefold. Rather than choosing one dominant color and treating the others as small accents, we gave each shade its own moment across the cards, artwork, and envelope. The custom illustrations and unique gatefold shape added even more personality, creating a suite that feels cheerful, modern, and colorful!
Colorful Wedding Invitations With Illustrated Details
The color palette for this suite started with the pink anthuriums in the bridal bouquet. We used several shades of pink throughout the stationery, then introduced chartreuse green for a bold contrast. Gold embossing, custom illustrations, and die-cut shapes added even more interest to the design. The finished suite feels bright and unexpected, with the floral inspiration still clearly connected to the wedding itself.
Bold Color-Blocked Wedding Invitations

This suite is a great example of how color can become the main design element without relying on illustrations. We used different colors across the individual cards so that portions of each shade remained visible when the suite was stacked together. Die-cut shapes and wavy borders added another playful element, giving each layer its own distinct look while allowing the colors behind it to peek through. The finished suite feels bold, playful, and eye-catching while keeping the individual card designs relatively simple.
Colorful Destination Wedding Invitations

The Hawaiian setting provided the starting point for both the colors and illustrations in this custom suite. We pulled inspiration from the tropical flowers found throughout the wedding, using their bright colors across the individual cards and illustrated details. The destination also influenced the artwork, giving us opportunities to incorporate elements specific to the location. The finished suite feels colorful and tropical while still being specific to this couple's wedding.
Colorful Invitations With Custom Shapes

For this suite, we used both color and shape to create interest across the stacked cards. Each piece featured a different bold color with wavy die-cut edges that allowed the layers underneath to remain visible. The entire suite was grouped together inside a vellum wrap and held shut with a wax seal, giving guests a glimpse of the colors before opening it. Once unwrapped, the different shapes and colors were fully revealed, making the presentation part of the design itself.
Find Inspiration for Your Own Colorful Wedding Invitations
When browsing invitations, pay attention to the parts of the design you actually like. Maybe it's the handwritten typography, the floral placement, a scalloped edge, an illustrated venue, or the way several cards are layered together. The colors can often be changed.
Julia Kay Design's semi-custom collections can be personalized with your wedding colors, giving you the opportunity to take an existing design and see it in a completely different palette.
For something created specifically for your wedding, our fully custom process gives us room to develop the color palette, artwork, shapes, printing methods, and other details together.
